I

Ziva drew the curtains in her bedroom, knowing it would make the woman in her bed feel more comfortable. Abby was huddled against the headboard, hugging her knees after her latest ordeal at the hands of a rabid fan of McGee's book. “Abby, it is okay. We got the guy,” she said softly, sitting next to her. Tentatively, she wrapped one arm around the woman's pale shoulders and pulled her close. It was a rare occasion to see the normally cheerful and bubbly goth woman this subdued. After leaving the convent, Abby had changed into pajamas that were more her style. Instead of the mob cap and long, conservative nightgown that seemed out of place in this day and age, she wore a black camisole and a tiny pair of shorts bearing her favorite band's logo across the bust of the cami and the bottom of her shorts. It was more Abby's style, but definitely not appropriate to wear around nuns.

Abby couldn't stop shaking after she left the convent. The rational part of her mind told her she was completely safe now. There was no threat, as he was being interrogated by one very angry Gibbs. But she couldn't feel safe at the convent after what had happened. She took care to leave a note for the Sisters, telling them where she was, and she packed her things and went to Ziva's apartment. “I still can't believe he killed two people because he thought McGee's books were real.” She saw the worst of humanity day in and day out, but some things still surprised her. “He-he was g-g-going to kill me.” If McGee hadn't thought up that fairytale ending on the fly, she would probably be dead. And the poor boy had seemed so happy with his ending, McGregor and Amy marrying and living happily ever after, sometimes Abby wondered if he wanted to start their relationship again. What they had was fun at the time, she had moved on into the arms of the woman currently holding her.

“I have seen many things, Abby,” Ziva said softly, pressing a kiss to her lover's temple. “Nothing surprises me anymore. I am just glad we found you in time.” Damn McGee for writing that book. If he hadn't, Abby would not be hiding away here, afraid of being killed by madmen again. Then again, if he hadn't, this moment might not be happening.

“Ziva?” The quiet purr almost startled the younger woman. They had been sitting so quietly for a time.

“Mmm?”

“You don't believe what Timmy said to keep me from being shot, do you?” It was something that had been troubling her, especially the sad look that Ziva had given her on their way out of the convent.

“I do not. Unlike some people, I know the boundary between fiction and real life.”

“Then you know I told Timmy that we're through? We had fun, but that's all it was. Just a little fun.”

Ziva's hand curled under Abby's chin and forced her to look up into her eyes. “Abby, I know you had something with McGee.” Her thumb gently stroked over her pale cheek and she smiled softly. “What matters now is that you have set the tape straight with him, ahavati.”

“You mean 'record'?” Abby couldn't help but laugh at that. It was one of the may traits she found endearing about her. “You know, I think I might be able to sleep now.”

“Go to sleep, ahavati. I will be here for you if you need me.”

II

It wasn't a restful sleep for Abby. Ziva could feel her tossing and turning in the bed next to her. Her arms wrapped around the other woman, and she could feel Abby tense up. The tension built up, Abby finally screaming out, “NO!” Ziva was happy for her fast reflexes, otherwise Abby might have broken her nose with the punch she had thrown. Startled to alertness, Abby had a look of horror on her face. “OhmyGodZiva! I'm so sorry!” Her eyes glistened with tears, and she looked down.

Clearly, being held at gunpoint, while not new to Abby, still had an effect on her. Ziva suddenly wished, after hearing all the horror stories about how Mikel had been with her (not to mention other past lovers), that she could take away the pain the other woman felt. “Shhh, it is okay. I am here.” She wrapped her arms around her lover, gently stroking her back.

“No, it's not okay, Ziva. I almost hit you.”

“I would do the same thing if startled awake. You do not have to be ashamed of this.” She reached up and gently caressed Abby's cheek, wiping away tears that had escaped her eyes. “Do not cry, yafa sheli.” Abby nodded slowly, nuzzling Ziva's hand as she wiped away stray tears that had escaped in her desperate attempts to keep from crying. “Would you like me to try and help you sleep?” There were so many ways, not all of them about sex. She didn't want to push Abby if she was feeling vulnerable and scared.

Abby nodded, wondering what was in store for her. “Ziva? Could you make me feel good?” She wanted to feel good, like she was safe. She always felt that way after making love with her. “Please?”

There was no way she could argue with Abby when she used that tone of voice. Slowly, she pressed a gentle kiss to Abby's neck, right on the spiderweb tattoo. “Ani ohevet otach,” she whispered softly as she trailed soft kisses along her lover's jawline.

Abby closed her eyes when she felt Ziva's gentle kisses and tilted her head back against the pillow to allow her better access. One hand tangled in long, dark curls while the other gripped at the baggy NCIS tee the other woman wore. The way Ziva whispered how much she loved her always made her breath catch in her throat every time she heard it. She knew that it was something special for the other woman to let her in like this, and she knew to treasure this side of Ziva. No one but her got to see her like this, and it was something she would never take for granted. “God, Ziva,” she whispered, pulling her into a slow, passionate kiss. It wasn't long before Ziva's shirt was on the floor and Abby's tank top was in a crumpled heap near the side of the bed, both women unable to keep their hands off each other. It wasn't long before Abby gasped and shivered when she felt Ziva's hand work between her legs. As she felt herself start to grow tense and start trembling, Abby distantly heard her cell phone.

“Answer it,” Ziva growled roughly. She wanted to see how well Abby could control herself.

“H-h-hey Gibbs,” Abby said, trying to sound calm and collected and failing miserably at it. Ziva paled slightly and stilled her hand. There was no way she was going to continue with Gibbs on the other end of the line.

“Abs, you okay?” Abby blushed. Gibbs was concerned, and it was always so adorable when he got into what she liked to call “super overprotective older brother” mode.

“Yeah, I'm okay. I just had a nightmare. Ziva's taking good care of me, though.” She gave her lover a look, urging her on. “Promise.” She bit her lip and tried to keep herself quiet when she felt Ziva's fingers move over her again. This was dangerous, and she knew that Gibbs would know what was going on, but she didn't care.

“Okay. Just callin' to tell you we don't need to come in tomorrow.” Director Shepard had been rather nice to give their team some time off after that case.

“Thanks.” She closed her phone and tossed it aside just as her climax overtook her. She cried out her lover's name shrilly, shaking with the force of her release.

Ziva slowly kissed up Abby's neck while the other woman panted and tried to calm down. Her own release could wait. Abby's comfort was her top priority. “Do you feel better, ahavati?” Wordlessly, Abby nodded. This was good.

“Hold me?” Her voice was rough from the scream she had let loose, and Ziva found it irresistable. Wordlessly, her arms wrapped around her lover's waist as she snuggled into her side.

She was quite confident that Abby would not have any more nightmares tonight.
