Title: Phoenix needs to fly
Author:Ghost's Writer
Writter For: nightshadow_t2
Prompt: Story 1: Tony/Gibbs: Lets try role reversal. Tony is an experienced
shifter. Gibbs comes into his heritage late and is having trouble.
Tony helps. Them being mates is awesome. Bonus if they're different
types of shifter.(Panther, pumas, tigers, bobcats, horses, griffins,
wolves, lions, dragons, centaurs, foxes, coyote, eagle, hawk, etc.
Pick one)
Archive: Please at least wait until I'm finished and ask me first
Genre: Slash (m/m)
Pairings: Gibbs/DiNozzo
Rating: PG (I'm really not good with ratings. If you think differently, say so)
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters of NCIS, anything else is mine. No money being made.
Word Count: Prologue:
Summary: Tony has to reveile a hard truth to Gibbs. Gibbs' decisions after that will have consequences so much bigger than Gibbs or Tony can foresee.
Author's Note: Once again a cute little bunny turned into a Gremlin. I realized early enough that I would never be able to finish the whole thing so this is Part One of a Series. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish this one yet, but I'm working on it. There's one more chapter to come. I neither had time to get a beta. I wanted you guys to know that I'm still in and it's a work in process. Hopefully I will have it finished and betaed before the three weeks end.

Prologue – Washington DC - 1982

Tony was anxious. He could see that his parents were nervous as hell and he had no idea what was going to happen. They had told him that it was something good, a rite of passage everyone had to go through, but why did they seem terrified if it was good?

The huge wing doors opened and a ridiculous small and old man appeared.

“Anthony D. DiNozzo.” He said, fixing his glare on Tony. The boy wondered why he had to be called out when he was the only one there except for his parents. His mother nudged him so he stood up.

“Follow me.” The man said and turned back to the doors. Tony threw a last look at his parents and then followed.

He was lead through the doors and then the man opened a small door to the left. He didn't enter and just made a gesture with his hand for Tony to go on. Swallowing hard Tony went into the rather dark room. It actually took him a moment before his eyes adjusted to what little light came from the fireplace on the right side of the room. It did seem to be the only light source and it bathed the room in more shadows than light. Tony shuddered slightly and had more and more the feeling that this would not be a nice rite of passage.

“Anthony.” A raspy voice behind him said and he spun around. In the far corner, in a big arms chair, said an old woman. She had long, white hair, and her face had more wrinkles than Tony had ever seen. “Come here, boy.” The woman cracked her long, thin index finger at him.

With wiggling knees the young boy moved to the chair opposite the old lady.

“Who – who are you?” He asked, his voice cracking with fear.

“I am the oracle. I am here to tell you your path in life.” She said ominously and it didn't help to ease Tony's mood.

“You're...you're gonna tell me my future?” he sat down in the chair, feeling very uncomfortable.

“Yes, boy, I will. I have been waiting for you for decades. Your future was clear before my inner eye before you were even born.” She smiled a toothless smile at him. “We are at the brink of a new age, a new threat is rising from below and it will be your decisions that will make us prevail or fail.”

Tony sighed deeply. 'Great, don't put me under pressure' he thought sourly. “Could you be a bit more specific than that?”

The oracle laughed shrill. “Why, yes, I can. You will be given a charge. You will have to train and bring him to his full glory. Without your guidance and love he will fail and so will we.”

Tony shifted a little. “Who is he?”

The old woman stared at Tony for a long moment. “You will find the Phoenix Shifter. You will be the only one to recognize him and you will know that it's him. You will feel it in your heart. He will be the center of your life and you will feel the need to do whatever you can to keep him save.” She leaned forward, her breath ghosting over Tony's face. “However, you will have to let him fly, it's what phoenixes do. They fly and cannot be caged. If you show him your love right, he will always come back to you, and we will be successful. He is the only one to defeat the Dark Rise and you're his guide. Yes, we have found our Phoenix Keeper.”

She sat back in the chair and closed her eyes. “Leave now. Your path may be unclear, but your destiny isn't.”

Tony sat there for a minute or two, but the woman didn't say anything more. So he stood up and left. Feeling lost and completely overwhelmed by what he had just learned. Why would he have to bear such a burden?

I read the Prologue and I'm hooked. I can't decide if I should wait till you are done or read the chapters as they come out.
