Author's Note: Once again a cute little bunny turned into a Gremlin. I realized early enough that I would never be able to finish the whole thing so this is Part One of a Series. Unfortunately I didn't get to finish this one yet, but I'm working on it. There's one more chapter to come. I neither had time to get a beta. I wanted you guys to know that I'm still in and it's a work in process. Hopefully I will have it finished and betaed before the three weeks end.

Tony sat in front of those huge wing doors and couldn't help but feel like that ten year old boy again. He still thought that nothing of this was fair. For a long time he had blamed just about anybody. First the council, then his parents, later the man he was supposed to find someday. That, of course stopped when he actually did find Gibbs. And then no one was left to blame and all he could do was accept his fate and do his best to bring it to a good end.
The doors opened and that ridiculously small and by now even older man came out. “Anthony D. DiNozzo.”
Tony sighed and got up. “You know, there's no one here but me. And you know me. There's not really need to announce me.”
As usual the man didn't say anything and just lead Tony through the doors. His gaze fell upon the small door to the left and he really wasn't in a hurry to send Gibbs through there, though he knew he had to sooner or later. Right now he was sent through the bigger door to the right. In the impressive room five people sat behind an enormous table.
“Anthony, I hope you're bringing good news.” the man in the biggest chair in the middle said.
“That depends, Gregory.” Tony replied. “Abby is still in the hands of the Shadow Alliance, so no news except getting her back is really good news for me right now.”
Gregory sighed slightly. “Of course, Abigail's safety is our main concern right now. However, we did tell you that you cannot keep Leroy in the dark forever. You reported him eight years ago. It was only a matter of time until that information leaked to the Alliance. Have you started his training?”
Tony nodded. “He took the news pretty good. I had to prove it to him by changing, but then he believed everything I told him. I had intended to start the usual training. A couple of days meditation and then slowly going to changing, however, he pressed the issue and we tried changing. He did manage to change from human to dog and then to cat, with my guidance. And he changed back without me.”
A quiet gasp went through the small group. “We always expected him to be a strong spirit, but this is more than any of us has ever seen.” The woman to Gregory's left said.
“I know, Amillia. I was rather surprised myself. The problem is, I don't know if it is a good idea to bring him with me to rescue Abby. No telling what they have planned for him.” Tony tried to convince them.
“If you never intended to take him, why did you tell him?” another man asked.
“I told him because I had no choice. I couldn't have explained the letter away.” he sighed slightly. “I'm not sure what they want. I mean, I know they want me to train him, but...”
“We understand your worries, Anthony.” Gregory said calmly. “For now, you should keep training with him. Probably they will make contact again. Maybe this time without risking to out all of us.”
Tony nodded. “I didn't tell him all of it. I just couldn't.”
“We understand and for now he doesn't need to know it all. However, you know that the day will come.” Gregory looked at Tony meaningfully. Tony nodded again and then left the council.
When Tony returned to Gibbs' house, it was completely silent. He decided against calling out, in case Gibbs was meditating and went looking instead. In the living room he found McGee, sitting at his laptop, but Gibbs was nowhere to be seen.
“Hey.” Tony said.
“Oh, hi. I've been trying to find something about the Alliance, but they're apparently the last organization not present in the internet.” McGee sighed.
“Did you really expect to find them? Even if they're in the internet, I don't think you'd find them with Google, McGeek.” Tony mocked.
“I didn't use Google, Tony.”
“Fine, McSavy. Where's Gibbs?” Tony asked instead of going on with this pointless conversation.
“He lay down. He actually managed to change without me once, but he was pretty tired after that.” McGee explained. “What did the Council say?”
“They agreed with me that we should wait for the Alliance to make a move and continue training Gibbs. However, I think they didn't agree with me about keeping Gibbs out of this.” Tony sat onto the couch.
“Well, sooner or later he'll have to face danger, Tony. And they won't try to kill him. He's too important to them, too.” McGee argued.
“I know...I really don't know where they're going with this. I expected them to try to get him onto their side. Kidnapping Abby won't bring them any further...” Tony shook his head. “It doesn't matter. We won't know until we see it and until then we'll have to get Gibbs prepared.” He glanced at his watch. “I'll order dinner. After that we can go on a little.”
After they had dinner Gibbs tried changing again and it worked every time.
“So, when do you think we can go do something about the Alliance?” Gibbs asked as they were finishing up for the day.
“I don't know, Gibbs. I think you should get to know some of the forms better. Changing is just a part of it. You will have to know what shape would be best in the situation at hand. We're going to train that tomorrow.” Tony said, putting back the cushions he and McGee had sat on while Gibbs was training.
McGee had gone home about an hour ago and Tony wasn't sure what to do. He didn't want to leave, fearing they'd try something if he left Gibbs unprotected.
“You wanna stay the night?” Gibbs asked, either reading Tony's mind or just thinking something similar.
“If you don't mind.” Tony replied.
“Is there something you're not telling me? I mean – it seems very important to those people that you train me...there has to be a reason.” Gibbs questioned, sitting down on the couch. He looked tired, but not completely exhausted, better than Tony had thought.
Tony sighed. “Ok, listen...Most shifters don't learn on their own, as you can imagine. Whenever a shifter notices an untrained shifter, they have to report them to the Council. Usually the same shifter is then announced Guide for the untrained. As soon as they're told the basics, and they believe, they're introduced to the Council. The Introduction is a rite everyone has to go through. It's nothing physical, so, don't worry when you have to go through yours. In fact, you just go to the Oracle. She tells you your fate. Most shifters can decide whether or not to share their fate with others, some shifters, like myself, don't get that choice.” Tony looked down, remembering the day he went through that door.
“What's your fate?” Gibbs asked carefully.
“I was told that I would find a man and he would be a powerful shifter. It's my responsibility to train and guide him so he can become a strong Triad. It's also my job to keep him save.” Tony took a deep breath before he looked at Gibbs. “I was told that I would feel it in my heart when I find him. I didn't really know what that was supposed to mean. I was only ten and couldn't imagine what I would feel for a man I'm meeting the first time that would be so special that I knew he was the one I was looking for.”
“But you think it's me? I'm that powerful shifter?” Gibbs frowned a little.
Tony smiled sourly. The Oracle had never helped him when it came to breaking the news. “You know...the Oracle said that I would – love – him.” He looked at Gibbs, not really knowing what he hoped to see.
The older man basically looked shell shocked. “You're saying...you love me?”
“From the first moment I saw you and every day a little more. You're not making it easy to love you sometimes, but I do. And I felt like I lost a big part of myself when you left to Mexico. I had never felt as lost and depressed ever in my life. It felt like I was drowning in darkness...” Tony chuckled a little “I guess you didn't expect me to declare my love to you when you found out that Abby's missing, did ya?”
“Not really...” Gibbs replied. “But it makes sense.”
Tony raised an eyebrow.
“When I saw you in Baltimore...I felt a connection to you. I don't know, I never trusted anyone on first sight, but I did with you. I looked you in the eyes and I knew you would never betray me.”
Tony nodded, feeling slightly disappointed. The Oracle never said his feelings would be returned equally.
“To say that's all I felt would be a lie, though.” Gibbs smirked at Tony. “You have been...I haven't been living in denial anymore for many years. I had accepted that I feel attracted to men and left it at that, never did anything about it. And then you came along and I actually started to dream about you. I dreamed about you in a way I only dreamed about one other person and that was Shannon. It was another reason I left for Mexico. I remembered you, all of you, and I felt it hard to deal with the pain of losing Shannon and Kelly and feeling this … love for you at the same time.” Gibbs sighed a little and stood from the couch, moving towards Tony. “Where does that put us?”
Tony shrugged a little. “Well, I...I don't really know.”
“If the Oracle told you that you would love me, does that mean, we're meant for each other?”
Tony frowned a bit. “It sounds strange, but I guess it does...”
Gibbs nodded, moving even closer to Tony. “Well, who are we to deny destiny?” he asked and closed the gap between them, taking Tony into a passionate but tender kiss.
