Please read all rules listed in this post.

Comments will be screened to protect your email addresses and provide an added mystery element of who is writing for you. You will be able to see your screened comment. If you see a comment from the mod account that is unscreened but not directly associated with yours, I have replied to another screened comment, not yours, so please don't feel the need to respond to it. I will try to indicate whether particular pairings and genres have been requested (but not the number of requests) in this post, if you are worried that nobody else will be able to write your prompts. For your sign up to be accepted you must state the code phrase found in this post, indicating that you have read the rules. If you do not put this code phrase and do not respond to my requests as to what the code phrase is, your sign up will be rejected.

1.) Round 5 sign up is open. Sign up will close 15th May. You should receive your assignment by the end of May hopefully.

2.) The deadline for writing your story is August 16th. This gives you a bit over two months to write. You have four days after that (i.e. till August 21st) to post your story.

3.) Writers will get no more than 3 weeks beyond the posting deadline to finish their stories (i.e. by the 5th September). If you've had something medically wrong or your computer died or you're just plain busy, I'm sorry, but your story will be passed to a pinch hitter.

4.) Pinch hitters will get 2 months to write. I can't really let this part drag out for 4 or 5 months. Lee way will be given where the story is close to being finished.

5.) TURN YOUR STORIES IN ON TIME. If something comes up, and you really can't get your story finished, warn me before the deadline. If you don't warn me, and don't turn your story in, you may not be allowed to participate in future ficathons. Also, don't just abandon the ficathon and not let me know. That will get me very annoyed.

6.) Stories should at least be 1000 words long. It wouldn't be fair if someone gets a 100 word drabble, while other people get 5000 word stories. However, you can write two stories that add up to more than 1000 words.

7.) Your story must be beta read. You wouldn't want to receive a story that has punctuation errors or spelling mistakes, would you? There will be a post open for betas again, so if you're willing to beta, sign up when the time comes.

8.) All questions should be directed to ncisficathon[at]gmail[dot]com.

9.) If you don't have a livejournal account, email the above address with your sign up, and email the story to me. I will post it on your behalf.

10.) If you ship an unpopular pairing, please specify other pairings/characters that you can write. Otherwise, it might be hard to match you up with anyone.

11.) Stories can be SLASH, FEMMESLASH, HET or GEN. NO REQUESTS FOR CROSSOVERS ALLOWED. Please indicate VERY clearly which if these you can and can't write or do and don't want. If you won't write any particular genre at all, include that in the 'won't write' but not the 'weaknesses' section, otherwise it's just repeating the same information. If the story you are to write is specifically asked to be a particular genre, please make sure it is. Code phrase: 'Abby FTW!'. Any rating is allowed. So, if you specify a pairing, but don't want smut, PWP, or NC-17, please say that.

12.) If you're behind on watching, and don't want spoilers for a particular season, say so.

Suggestions and comments:
1.) Give your beta reader plenty of time to read it. It does take a while to beta, so don't leave it to the last minute.
2.) I won't be participating in the ficathon this time, so the sign up below is a suggestion.
3.) I will ask in LJ posts for pinch hitters when we need them, but please indicate if you would be able to pinch hit (write an additional story if someone defaults) in your comment, as this gives me a port of call if nobody responds.
4.) All standard header information should be included at the top of your story when you post it, particularly ratings, pairings, and spoilers.
5.) This isn't an anonymous ficathon.

For Story 1, Story 2 and story 3, choose a pairing (not written as TATE etc. but Tony/Kate), situation, genre, rating, etc. that you would like to see in your story. This will be written by someone else for you. YOU ONLY HAVE TO WRITE ONE OF THE STORY IDEAS, AS LONG AS IT IS AT LEAST 1000 WORDS. Strengths, weaknesses, etc. applies to what you are willing to write for somebody else. Please indicate if you are willing to "pinch hit" or write a second story on short notice if someone drops out. An example of a request (my request from 4 years ago, to be exact) is:

Story 1: Tony and Gibbs stuck somewhere. Can be humour or hurt/comfort. No slash. No het (involving characters dating from the show. It would be all right if, for example, Tony or Gibbs were seeing someone else).
Story 2: How something from Tony's past has affected something specific about how he is now. Could be a way he reacts in a given situation, or how he relates to people. But, something beyond what we know on the show, or extending into a new situation. No slash or het. However, it could be a woman that Tony was involved with in the past.
Story 3: A team fic, involving a toothbrush.
Strengths: gen, Tony, Gibbs, teamfics, hurt/comfort, humour
Weaknesses: Long fic, locations and US centric things
Won't write: het, femmeslash, slash and NC-17.
Pinch Hit?: Yes

Be specific, but also try to be open to writing something a little new or different. If you don't have an LJ, go ahead and email the gmail address listed above. Just make sure to include a name for your recipient to call you by.

Good question. No, because I can't guarantee that the person I'm asking to write writes for LA. I think, if there was interest, somebody would need to run a separate ficathon for LA. I'll add that into the mod post. ;-)

Would you have any interest in having someone else (like me) run a parallel LA ficathon? We can use the same dates and formats, but all the matching will be done from LA writers only? If not, that's cool. Just thought I'd offer. :)

Hee. I'm setting up the LA fic exchange *stuff* now. I am going to run from AO3, but I'll also create an LJ comm and DW comm to mirrow content. Is it okay if I crib the basic rules and tweek them for our use so we can run in conjunction with you? I'm looking at about 12 participants, so I'm sure there's a lot less specificness I need to deal with (we can roll with things a little easier), but I'd like to keep us mostly on the same page as you.

As soon as I have all the links, I'll give them to you so you can point people our way, okay?

Yes, correct. You are matched up with the 3 x story prompts from somebody else by what you list in your strengths/weaknesses/and won't write.

You will know the name of who you are writing for. When posting time comes up, you will then know who has written for you when they post their stories. Some anonymous ficathons will have a period where the authors are a mystery, this one doesn't.
